Really cool how you had a super big range of background characters. I like when artists don't confine themselves and explore different ideas in one piece. I got some Luca vibes from the setting, for sure. One detail I loved was the shoes falling out of frame and then popping back up when the kid started swimming to the surface. It's such a tiny thing that I wouldn't have noticed, had you had left it out, but because you didn't, it added a wonderful sense of continuity.

I think it's so hard to capture believable dialog, but there's moments in here that sound like they're legitimately from a real conversation that you recorded. I'm a big fan of people kind of just wandering around a city late at night. There's never enough of that kind of content. I'd love to see this expanded into a series or comic. Keep up the amazing work. This definitely deserves more love.

I'm more of an artist than a writer for sure, so I manage a lot better at writing a plot and dialogue that don't do much heavy lifting on their own but serve to add to the artistic, romanticized moments that feel more immersive and real, and carry the 'vibe' across. So I'm really glad that came across!
The small moments in this are what makes it. The split second thinking pose, the sniff, the stutter when he's confronting them. All brilliant. Character design is great, as well. That bully looked an awful lot like Jerma which sends this thing over the top for me, in the best way.
Replying over a year later realizing that the way I drew that bully is in fact on model with how I draw Jerma... I didn't mean to he just materialized in the short I guess
